Portland Declares State of Emergency Amidst Heatwave, Mayor and County Chair Rally Resources

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson and Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson declared a State of Emergency due to the ongoing heatwave. The order allows the city to adjust procurement, approve overtime pay, and increase staffing at the Emergency Coordination Center. It also makes the city eligible to seek reimbursement for emergency costs, according to the City of Portland.
