PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After a car was found on its side — without its driver — in a shallow part of the Columbia River earlier this month, authorities revealed that the individual died in the crash.
On August 2 at around 8 a.m., Portland police said a car crashed through a guardrail and landed in the water outside the intersection of Northeast Marine Drive and Northeast 122nd Avenue. At the time, the driver of the car was not found, despite the assistance from other emergency response agencies.
Vancouver attorney sentenced for forging court order
On Wednesday, the Portland Police Bureau announced the driver was eventually found dead in the Columbia River after the crash. He is identified as 43-year-old Portland resident Guillermo Soto Briceno and his family has been notified of his death, police said.
On the day of the crash, Portland Fire and Rescue, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Coast Guard were all called in to help but a body wasn’t immediately found at the time. The PPB’s Major Crash Team also responded to and investigated the incident…
