Officials face pressure to act over safety concerns at Central Library

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Community leaders in Portland are calling for urgent action from county officials following another violent incident at the Multnomah County Central Library.

Just months after a deadly shooting at the library, a person was stabbed multiple times just outside the library on Monday, raising serious concerns about safety and security.

In a letter to the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners, Andrew Hoan, the president of the Portland Metro Chamber, expressed “deep alarm” over a recent shooting outside the library in July and the “public safety crisis unfolding in the area.”…
