Portland Police Bureau rejoins regional Transit Police Division

The largest police force in the region has rejoined a collaborative effort to keep riders on public transit safe.

The Portland Police Bureau announced it will commit personnel to the Transit Police Division, which has dedicated officers patrol the train and bus system. Portland has committed one sergeant and five officers.

That has them join the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Port of Portland Police Department, Beaverton Police Department and Hillsboro Police Department. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has two deputy DAs who prosecute crimes charged by transit officers…
