Hillsboro to open year-round homeless shelter with 75 capacity, pets welcome

HILLSBORO, Ore. (KATU) — The city of Hillsboro is getting ready to open a new year-round homeless shelter.

Once open, the shelter will be operated by Project Homeless Connect, Washington County and will be the county’s first hybrid model shelter. It will hold at least 75 individuals, between 40 shelter pods and 35 additional beds, in a congregate sleeping area with staff onsite 24/7.

The facility will also have extensive wrap-around services available, including access to three meals a day, laundry services, health care, peer support as well as shelter liaisons. Those liaisons will be onsite to make sure people staying at the shelter are working on their next steps…
