PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The Vaux’s Swifts, known for their roosting at Chapman Elementary, may not return to the site this fall, according to recent observations.
Last year, the swifts abandoned the Chapman roost, opting for various other locations across the city. Experts with the Bird Alliance of Oregon say this shift was significant, as Chapman Elementary is the only site in Portland capable of accommodating over 3,000 spectators in a single night.
