After nearly 4 decades, a Portland news anchor is stepping down

Starting next year, a familiar face will be absent from Portland televisions.

Steve Dunn, who has been at KATU for 39 years, will retire mid-December, the station announced Tuesday, though Dunn himself countered that characterization of his next move with his statement, saying, “This is not retirement for me. I am exploring different options in areas that I’m extra passionate about. And no, I will not be a lounge singer.”

According to KATU, Dunn came to Portland in 1986 by way of Arizona and Michigan. In his time at KATU, he’s been nominated for many awards, including nine nominations for Television Emmy Awards…
