Proposed drug treatment center in Southeast Portland opposed by families of nearby elementary school

PORTLAND, Ore. — In Southeast Portland, one group is pushing to open up a treatment center meant to serve a city still in the grips of a drug crisis. But for parents of an elementary school next door, the location is a no-go, and they’re calling on city officials to shut it down.

Despite the uproar, the city of Portland signaled Tuesday that it may no longer have a say in the matter.
