Spirit Airlines is ending service to Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. — Spirit Airlines announced Thursday that it will be ending flight service to a dozen cities across the country, including Portland, Oregon, NBC reported.

The announcement came just a week after the ultra low-cost airline announced that it was filing for bankruptcy for a second time. Although Spirit has said that it plans to keep flying as usual during the restructuring process, its $2.4 billion in long-term debt makes for an uncertain future for the company.

In total, Spirit will be ending service to the following cities, effective the week of Oct. 2:

  • Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Birmingham, Alabama
  • Boise, Idaho
  • Chattanooga, Tennessee
  • Columbia, South Carolina
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Oakland, California
  • San Diego, California
  • Sacramento, California
  • San Jose, California

The company is also halting plans to start service in Macon, Georgia…
