Tenant advocates rally over near eviction of veteran from low-income housing

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Tenant advocates say Daniel McLean’s close call with an eviction from his low-income housing over Labor Day weekend is proof that the state and city’s housing models are not working.

“As horrifying as Dan’s story is, there are countless others across the city being pushed towards homelessness because of this indifference and neglect. We need to treat our housing crisis with the urgency the law demands because inaction is a choice,” said Portland Tenants United organizer Gabriel Burns during a rally outside the Yard and Union Station, a low-income housing complex run by Home Forward.
