PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon Humane Society has an offer that will make local animal lovers howl.
At their Portland and Salem campuses this weekend, the shelter is waiving adoption fees for more than 100 cats, kittens and dogs chosen by staff.
According to OHS’ Director of Adoptions Eleena Fikhman, the goal of this adoption special is to highlight those pets who often get overlooked at the height of kitten season and are waiting to go to a loving home.

“September tends to be a slower month for adoptions and our shelters are nearing capacity, but the need to help animals continues to grow,” Fikhman said. “When our community steps up to give a pet a loving home, it opens up a kennel so we can help the next pet in need.”…
