The New York Times names two Oregon restaurants among America’s best

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two of America’s best restaurants are right here in Oregon, according to The New York Times.

NYT recently unveiled “The Restaurant List 2025,” a roundup of the top 50 eateries nationwide. The daily newspaper reported that 14 reporters and editors ate more than 200 meals in 33 states to compile the list — which features businesses in Eugene and Portland.

Eugene’s West-Indies-inspired spot Yardy Rum Bar was one of multiple selections. It opened in February 2024 on 837 Lincoln St.

“When you think Oregon, the first flavor that jumps to mind is probably not Caribbean spice,” the Times wrote. “But it should be. Yardy’s chef and co-owner, Isaiah Martinez, grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, before heading west. Originally a food truck, Yardy found its forever home in a cheerful, sea-foam green Victorian near downtown.”…
