TriMet pays $830K to family of man dragged by MAX train in Beaverton to settle lawsuit

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – TriMet has settled a lawsuit with the family of a man who died after being dragged by a MAX train in Beaverton.

As part of the settlement, the transit agency will pay $830,300 to the estate of Jonathan Ignatious Edwards III.

In December 2023 at the Beaverton Transit Center, Edwards’ long coat became caught in the doors of the MAX train as he exited the car, and he was dragged along the platform…
