Trial for accused killer of nurse Melissa Jubane remains on track for 2026

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Friday marked a status hearing in the murder trial of Bryce Schubert, the man accused of killing Beaverton nurse Melissa Jubane last September.

Schubert did not come physically to court, but rather appeared virtually with audio only. It was a quick process — only two minutes — but the courtroom was full with Schubert’s family on one side, along with a big group supporting Jubane.

Both the prosecution and defense told the judge that things are moving ahead as scheduled, and they are still on pace to start the trial in March 2026.

Following the hearing, dozens of local advocates rallied outside the courthouse demanding justice for Jubane. They said they plan to show out for every court proceeding, even if it’s just a status hearing…
