PORTLAND, Ore. — A man is in critical condition after being shot outside a Wood Village apartment complex earlier this week. Newly released court documents reveal the shooting suspect may have carried out a spree of robberies across the Portland metro area that same night.
Shooting at Byway Apartments
On Monday night, Multnomah County deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the Byway Apartments on Northeast Halsey Street. When they arrived, they found a man collapsed on the roadway. He was rushed to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the victim and his brother had been working earlier that evening at the nearby Byway Market. Court filings state that a masked man armed with a pistol stormed into the store, yelling: “Give me everything you’ve got. This is for real.”
The clerks told him there was no cash available, and the suspect fled without taking anything. The brothers followed him outside. One attempted to photograph the suspect’s vehicle as he drove off. The victim reportedly ran after the car…
