PORTLAND, Oregon — It may look a bit like it, but Mount St. Helens is not erupting Tuesday morning. The ash you can see blowing around the volcano is actually remnants of the infamous 1980 eruption.
Webcams provided by the United States Geological Survey captured images of a huge cloud of greyish-brown ash rising high off the mountain slopes. Officials with the National Weather Service in Portland were quick to confirm that it wasn’t an eruption.
