Human remains found southeast of Estacada, deputies looking for leads

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Fifteen days after human remains were found on a Mount Hood forest road, authorities are asking for help solving a homicide.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, on Sept. 1, deputies responded to Forest Service Road 45 in the Mount Hood National Forest near S Hillockburn Road, where someone had reported finding human remains.

Authorities said they began investigating the scene, and after an autopsy, the victim was identified as Jennifer Ruth Stuart, 38, and her death was ruled a homicide.

“Anyone who may have known Jennifer Stewart… is known to be around the Oregon City area,” Brian McCall with CCSO said. “So if there’s anybody who may have had contact with Jennifer in the last 30 days or so, or maybe, I guess, 30 days before she was found. The month of August is kind of the window we’re looking at.”…
