E-scooter driver arrested for manslaughter after crashing into semi truck and killing passenger

A man was arrested on manslaughter charges after crashing into a semi truck with an e-scooter, resulting in the death of his passenger.

The accident happened at around 3 a.m. on August 17th, in Northeast Portland, Oregon, but 21-year-old Jayden Calkins was not arrested until Wednesday, September 17th.

According to Oregon Live, Jayden Calkins was driving an e-scooter on Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Holladay Street when he collided with a passing tractor trailer. The collision killed 24-year-old Gerardo Ortiz Henriquez, who was riding on the back of the scooter, and left Calkins with serious injuries…
