Family files $375-million lawsuit for 2024 deadly power line incident in NE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A family is suing Portland General Electric (PGE) and a property management company for $375 million after the electrocution deaths of three people in January 2024.

The incident happened on Jan. 17, 2024, in the 12300 block of NE Siskiyou Street. According to investigators, a power line fell on top of the victims’ car and began sparking. Two adults, one holding an infant, got out of the car along with a teen boy. The victims all slipped on the icy ground and slid into contact with the still electrically charged power line wire.
