Vancouver family mourns mother after 17-year-old family friend arrested for her death

VANCOUVER, Wash. — A Vancouver teenager was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of strangling a woman, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The suspect, identified in court documents as 17-year-old Kharma Douglas, was booked into Clark County Juvenile Court Detention on a second-degree murder charge. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Chantal Trotter, died in the attack.

Family remembers mother

Trotter’s son, Darius Jackson, spoke with KGW outside his mother’s house Monday, saying he lost his father in 2020 and now has lost his mother as well.

“She’s gone, and I really don’t have any words to explain. It’s just really hard for our family, being without both parents,” he said…
