A woman is in the hospital after the driver of a van ran her over while she sat on a bench outside Providence Portland Medical Center Thursday afternoon.
Portland Police Bureau spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Allen told The Oregonian/OregonLive that the incident happened around 1:30 p.m.
Investigators believe that the man was trying to maneuver the van into a parking spot when he accidentally pressed the accelerator — causing the car to jump the curb and completely run over the bench where the woman was sitting, Allen said…
