At 9:30 AM this morning in Hillsboro, Oregon, some ICE Officers were identified as being on the hunt for someone at or about 1888 NE Poynter Street. This area is located just east of Poynter Middle School. Some brave locals decided to take action and blocked the ICE officer’s vehicle, discouraging them from being in the neighborhood. Because Hillsboro has a Hispanic/LatinX population of over 25,000, it was an expectation that the community would eventually be targeted. This is the 3rd or 4th incident that the Herald has heard of in our community, but the first film that has surfaced. The Hillsboro Police Department was not present, and as of the time of writing this article, it is unclear whether HPD would be able to intervene or provide assistance. Requesting badge numbers, warrants, and information is a practice that many cities have incorporated into their laws and rules of engagement regarding how police interact with ICE agents. People need to be aware that community activity has increased, and we can expect this trend to continue…
