Feds ‘threaten to shoot and arrest’ Portland ambulance crew as they treat injured ICE protester

Federal officers in Portland stalled and threatened an ambulance crew earlier this month while they were transporting an injured protester from the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, according to a new report from Willamette Week published on Monday.

American Medical Response employees made the claims in an internal incident report, which detailed a heated exchange at the South Portland building. One federal agent reportedly threatened to “shoot and arrest” one of the medics, the medic wrote in a report obtained by Willamette Week.

A representative for the union representing the ambulance crew confirmed the allegations to The Oregonian.

“Our members responded with professionalism and calm in a situation that could have easily gotten out of control,” Austin DePaolo, spokesperson for Teamsters 223, said in a statement to the outlet. “We respect the work law enforcement officers do every day, and we expect that same respect and cooperation when our members in EMS are performing their duty to protect and save lives.”…
