Providence to shut down occupational health services at multiple Portland-area clinics

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After announcing the closure of two other facilities, Providence Health & Services is now planning to shut down several of its clinics.

According to an email recently sent to employees, the medical group has decided to cease occupational health services at four of its locations: Providence Newberg Medical Center, Clackamas Medical Plaza, Tigard’s Bridgeport Health Center and Hillsboro’s Tanasbourne Health Center. The change is set to take effect on Friday, Nov. 7.

In the email, Chief Executive Ben LeBlanc and Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Zelensky revealed that the health care system has lost more than 50% of its occupational medicine clinicians over the past two years. They claimed the staffing storage has “made it impossible to maintain” services at the impacted facilities.

“As we look forward, this transition allows us to focus on delivering high-quality care where our communities need us most,” LeBlanc and Zelensky added. “By concentrating our resources on primary care, urgent care and specialty services, we can better serve our patients and ensure long-term sustainability.”…
