Unattended candle causes apartment fire in Bridlemile neighborhood

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland Fire and Rescue said an unattended candle caused an apartment fire early Friday morning in the Bridlemile neighborhood.

Crews responded to the fire on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway around 12:15 a.m., where they found that the fire did not extend beyond one apartment unit on the fourth floor.

“Crews found a room and contents fire in an extremely cluttered fourth floor apartment unit that was partially suppressed by the building’s sprinkler system,” officials said. “Crews stretched a hose line to this unit and quickly extinguished the remainder of the fire.”

No injuries were reported, but one person was evaluated for a possible panic attack,” according to PF&R.
