Three hospitalized after two cars fall down embankment near Sauvie Island

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three people were hospitalized after officials said two cars crashed down an embankment, trapping them inside early Sunday afternoon.

Just before 12:30 p.m., Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to the area of Northwest St. Helens Road and Harborton Drive and found the 2 cars had fallen down “an embankment with difficult access,” trapping three people.

As nearby railroads temporarily closed that section to train traffic, firefighters freed the victims within 15 minutes.

Other firefighters then worked to give immediate medical care before AMR arrived.

All three victims were taken to the hospital “with a range of injuries, thankfully none critical,” officials said…
