PORTLAND, Ore. — With a federal government shutdown extending into its 22nd day, there is growing worry among people who rely on food benefits. Those worries extend to local food pantries, which expect to see a spike in demand if benefits don’t come through.
Just as quickly as shelves get stock at Sunshine Division in Portland, the items are quickly taken off the shelves to get distributed to families in need.
