Portland City Council member targeted in suspected arson in Oregon

Police in Portland, Oregon, are investigating a weekend arson attack in which the cars and part of the home of a city council member were torched.

The Portland Police Bureau launched the investigation after firefighters battled the blaze early Sunday at the home of council member Candace Avalos, a Democrat.

Fire crews arrived at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday and found Ms. Avalos’ two cars engulfed in flames. The carport where the vehicles were parked also caught fire in the suspected attack…
