A year after the Vancouver Mall deadly shooting, survivors still deal with the ongoing impacts

VANCOUVER, Wash. — As most are thinking about where to trick-or-treat on Halloween night this year, Micaela Martin can’t stop thinking about Halloween last year. The Vancouver Mall was packed with trick-or-treaters when an accused shooter opened fire, killing one person and injuring her boyfriend and ex-husband.

KGW sat down with Micaela Martin to talk about how the last year has been and what she says she’s been dealing with in the year after the fatal shooting.

“It’s been a growing experience for sure,” she said. “Trying to navigate trying to take care of four very traumatized and injured people and also trying to figure out what that looks like for myself.”…
