Josh White, owner of Heretic Coffee Co. in Portland, decided to take matters into his own hands by creating a donation drive to feed people losing their SNAP (food stamp) benefits. What started as a modest idea quickly grew into a massive act of kindness that restored faith in humanity.
From a Few Hundred Dollars to $86,000 Overnight
White says he initially expected just a small response when he set up the donation link on his café’s social media.
“I legitimately thought we would get like a couple hundred dollars,” he admitted.
But by the end of the night, the total had surpassed $10,000, and soon after, the number skyrocketed…
