Happy Valley woman accused of punching federal officer during traffic stop after harassing him on road

A Happy Valley woman is accused of flipping off a federal officer in traffic, cutting off his marked government car repeatedly while they drove and then punching him in the face after he pulled her over in a traffic stop.

Melanie Breanne Rivas, 25, confronted the Federal Protective Service officer Wednesday as he was driving in a marked agency car, headed to work in downtown Portland, according to a federal affidavit.

Rivas pulled her car up beside the officer’s near Southeast Sunnyside Road and 152nd Avenue in Happy Valley, jerked her car toward his as if trying to bang into it and flipped him off, the affidavit said…
