Man sentenced in first of two Portland homicides — a brutal beatdown outside Mary’s Club

Antonio Howard was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison Wednesday — wrapping up one of two cases in which he’s been charged with murder.

Multnomah County Circuit Judge Katharine von Ter Stegge accepted a no contest plea from Howard, 35, meaning he did not admit guilt but was nevertheless convicted of second-degree manslaughter under the terms of a plea deal.

Howard, known by his nickname “Breeze,” had faced a first-degree murder charge that carried a mandatory life sentence with the chance of parole in 30 years…
