PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Sunshine Division says it is stepping up its hunger relief response across the Portland metro area due to the uncertainty surrounding federal food assistance caused by the ongoing government shutdown.
“When news broke that people would be losing their SNAP benefits on Nov. 1, the impact was instant,” said Kyle Camberg, Executive Director of Sunshine Division.
In response, Sunshine Division has announced that it will be increasing its home-delivery program from 450 to 650 food boxes per week. It will also be extending its Food Pantry hours, beginning on Nov. 8. New pantry hours will be Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m…
