Portland-area neighbors help feed community as SNAP benefits run out

ALOHA Ore. (KPTV) – Millions of Americans woke up Saturday without access to benefits through the SNAP program, as the government shutdown continues, including more than 750,000 Oregonians. The impacts are already starting to hit here at home, but some are trying to help as benefits run dry.

Earlier in the day, a fridge with free food in Aloha near Southwest 199th Court and Rock Road was filled with donations from community members. However, by Saturday night, the fridge was nearly empty.
