In north Westmoreland, on Saturday night, October 18, nearby residents said they heard the sound of what they thought were “several firecrackers”; one said he had heard six rapid bangs, and another reported hearing what seemed like more than a dozen. Turns out, though, they were not firecrackers.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) Central Precinct officers, dispatched to a possible shots-fired incident, arrived to find a man down on the sidewalk. Responding paramedics confirmed the victim was dead at the scene.
“The suspect or suspects left the scene, and so no immediate arrests were made,” a PPB spokesperson reported…
