Police Arrest Armed Suspect After Incident in Lloyd District; Investigation Underway

On the night of November 5, 2025, Portland Police responded to emergency calls in the Lloyd District, on the 400 block of Northeast Hassalo Street. Witnesses reported a man, unclothed and carrying a handgun, running in the area. Officers from the North Precinct arrived but did not find the suspect at first. After searching, they located him near Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street. Officers heard a gunshot as the man ran south with the weapon.

A police officer used a vehicle to strike the suspect, causing him to drop the gun. The man got up and continued to flee. Officers confronted him again on Northeast Holladay Street. He did not follow police commands. Officers used a Taser to subdue and arrest him. The suspect was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and remains in custody. No other people were injured. Police recovered a handgun at the scene.

Because force was used, the Portland Police Bureau started a deadly force investigation, as required by policy. The Detective Division’s Homicide Unit and the East County Major Crimes Team are leading the investigation. No officers fired their weapons during the incident.
