Arrest made in fatal 80 mph crash in Gresham last summer

A 22-year-old Gresham man was arrested in connection with a fatal crash this summer that killed two people.

Eyasu Bedasso was taken into custody Friday morning, Nov. 7, by investigators with the East County Vehicular Crimes Team. He faces two counts of second-degree manslaughter, two counts of criminally negligent homicide, and reckless driving.

The crash occurred on June 16 on Southwest Towle Avenue. A small SUV driven by Bedasso allegedly collided with another car. The driver of that vehicle, 69-year-old Theresa Heick, died at the scene. Her husband and passenger, 79-year-old Robert Heick, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. He died several days later…
