‘Operation Wedding Gown’ gives free wedding dresses to military, first responder brides-to-be

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Since 2012, the nonprofit Brides for a Cause has helped cut down the cost of wedding dresses while supporting many different charities.

With Veterans Day approaching, the Brides for a Cause store at Southeast Division and 10th in Portland held one of their two yearly wedding dress giveaways this weekend – this time for military brides and first responders.

These 40 restaurants are offering veterans free meals and discounts on Veterans Day

“Operation Wedding Gown” gives away wedding dresses to “qualified and registered brides” who are either currently on active duty, a military veteran within the past five years, a first responder or is marrying a member of any of the above.

“It’s really fun. They love it,” bridal stylist Wanda Clark told KOIN 6 News. “We just had a girl just a few minutes ago that was here, and she had the a beautiful dress. Very excited. It’s really fun to watch them go through the dresses and find something.”…
