Another ‘bump in the road’ arises for drivers heading to the Coast on Hwy 26

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The familiar bump in the road along Hwy-26 has re-emerged near milepost 13. This area of risen asphalt has caused problems for drivers heading to the northern coast since 2022.

The original bump was a 6-inch rise in the asphalt, 3-feet by 4-feet in area.

According to Oregon Dept. of Transportation (ODOT) spokesperson Mindy McCart, the cause of the rise in the road is a “byproduct of a massive, slowly unfolding landslide shifting the entire hillside.”…
