Portland woman gets 7.5 years after deadly third DUII incident

A Portland woman who drove drunk and killed another person by crashing head-on into their car will spend the next seven and a half years in prison.

Rosa Victalina Hitzfeld, 60, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, third-degree assault and driving while under the influence of intoxicants. She had two prior DUII convictions and another DUII diversion before the latest fatal incident.

Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Jenna Plank sentenced Hitzfeld to 90 months in prison during a court appearance Friday, Nov. 7.

Fatal Crash

On October 13, 2024, Hitzfield drove the wrong way down Fairview Parkway with a blood alcohol level of approximately 0.18. She got into the wrong lane after failing to make a proper turn onto the roadway from Glisan. She traveled for some distance before a slight bend in the roadway led to the head-on collision…
