PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A proposal by some of Portland’s more liberal city councilors that would cut money from a homeless camp cleanup fund has sparked backlash from other council members and the mayor.
The budget change proposed by councilors Angelita Morillo and Mitch Green would cut roughly $4.3 million from the city’s Impact Reduction Program and direct some of the money toward rent and food assistance and refugee support.
