Portland police ID scooter rider killed in crash with Amtrak train

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland police have identified the man killed after his rented scooter crashed into an Amtrak train on Friday.

Thomas W. Houff, 58, was a Portland resident who collided with the train near the intersection of SE 11th Avenue and Clinton Street around 10 a.m., authorities said.

When officers arrived, they found Houff dead and said the Amtrak train had stopped at the scene.
