PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The operator of a MAX train that collided with a Portland Streetcar in November 2023 was fired in July 2024 for again violating TriMet safety protocols after going through another round of operator training.
The crash happened around 10 a.m. near NE 7th Avenue and Holladay Street when the MAX operator James Frick started just before getting a green light and crashed into the Portland Streetcar, investigative documents from TriMet revealed.
The Streetcar operator, Bomani Bolivar, was pinned in by the crash. He was pulled out of the cab and treated for a foot injury, documents said. Both the Streetcar and the MAX train had to be towed.
