PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A neighborhood group in Portland is in opposition to a proposal to cut $4.3 million from the city’s Impact Reduction Program, which supports the clean-up of homeless camps, including sweeps.
More than 200 people showed up to the Northwest District Association’s emergency meeting to voice their concerns, including staff from the offices of the mayor and Councilors Olivia Clark and Erik Zimmerman, all of whom are opposed to the proposed cut.
On Wednesday, Portland City Council is expected to vote on an amendment by Councilor Angelita Morillo, which proposes cutting the Impact Reduction Program and rerouting funds to put toward housing, food assistance and immigrant relations.
