Portland Urban Alchemy Employee Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Uber Driver’s 2022 Death

An Urban Alchemy staffer in Portland has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the year-old case of an Uber driver’s death. The employee, Kaesha Green, 41, was taken into custody on Nov. 5 for her alleged involvement in the March 2022 killing of 39-year-old Shaani Mohamed, who tragically left behind a family of eight. As reported by The Oregonian, following her arrest, Green has been placed on unpaid leave as of Nov. 6 by her employer.

Investigation documents suggest that the victim, Mohamed, may have been targeted for a robbery before he was fatally shot. The incident reportedly occurred on the evening of Sunday, March 27, near the intersection of Northeast 82nd Avenue and Milton Street. Despite attempts by police to save Mohamed’s life until paramedics arrived, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to KATU News’s account of the event. Officers responded to a call at approximately 9:40 p.m. that fateful night.

Urban Alchemy, the homeless services provider that manages four village-style shelters and a day center within Portland, affirms that Green was an employee on their roster at the time of her arrest. Jess Montejano, a spokesperson for Urban Alchemy, declared in a statement provided to KOIN 6 News, “Green was placed on unpaid leave Nov. 6, the day following her arrest. She said the position would be terminated if Green did not return within 30 days.”…
