Driver arrested, officer injured after police chase through Eugene game day traffic

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was taken into custody after police said he drove recklessly through heavy game day traffic in Eugene, prompting a police pursuit which left an officer hospitalized Friday afternoon.

Just after 3 p.m., an officer tried to stop a reckless driver in a pickup near Valley River Center, authorities said.

When the driver kept going and “endangering the public,” officials said this prompted a police pursuit.
