Portland liquor store employee robbed during deadly cardiac arrest, remembered by community

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A suspect robbed a southeast Portland liquor store while an employee suffered a cardiac arrest, taking advantage of the medical emergency to steal about $800 from the safe before abandoning the victim.

Jason Hay, 53, suffered a cardiac arrest while working at Bins and Barrels Liquor Store on Oct. 25 and died a week later in the hospital. Security camera footage shows a man pretending to help Hay during the medical emergency before stealing from the store and running off. No arrest has been made.
