Increase in homelessness across Portland metro overwhelming support services, report shows

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Metro Supportive Housing Services (SHS) revealed findings from their annual report on Monday, showing that an average of over 3,000 people a month were seeking homeless services for the first time.

The tri-county program, approved by voters in 2020, announced that more than 15,700 homeless people across Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties have found housing since the program’s inception.

However, their annual report for the 2025 fiscal year found that between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, the average number of people seeking homeless services for the first time was over 3,000 across the region each month…
