‘Needs to be cleaned up’: City of Portland cracks down on illegally parked, lived-in RVs

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The City of Portland is cracking down on illegally parked and lived-in RVs by towing them away and charging steep fees.

Portland Bureau of Transportation is tacking on fees after towing vehicles, motorhomes, trailers, boats and tiny home on wheels starting this week.

If the owner wants their vehicle back, the towing fees range between $250 to $350 and they must show proof of ownership, insurance and a valid driver’s license. In the past, these fees were waived.

“Every Monday through Thursday, except holidays, staff are visiting lived-in vehicles and tagging them with notices that towing could happen soon,” PBOT said in a statement. “A follow up visit often happens a week to 10 days later, as work teams from PBOT, police, a towing company and oftentimes a team of specialized outreach workers who work with houseless individuals all visit the site together.”…
