PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s been more than five months since the Rowena Fire ravaged close to 4,000 acres of the Columbia River Gorge. While the cleanup effort started as soon as the flames were put out, some survivors are still trying to pick up the pieces.
For Floyd Barber Jr., it’s been a long five months since the Rowena Fire. It’s hard to forget the heartbreaking images. When KOIN 6 Reporter Ariel Iacobazzi first met Floyd in June, it was hours after the flames tore through most of his property; he said he “lost two-thirds of it.”
‘It’s pretty rough here,” he told KOIN 6 News. Rough because every day, he still wakes up to the charred landscape, and he said the recovery process has been “very, very little.”…
